Darts Finalists 2024

At TIFS, we’re huge fans of Darts! It’s a really popular enrichment activity run by Mr Douglas, and it’s a chance for students to show off their skills and have some fun. On the 3rd of December, the exciting finals for this term’s TIFS Darts Tournament took place, and it was an afternoon full of action, drama, and incredible throws.

The competition included two contestants from each year group, including Year 8, 9, 10, and 11. Each player gave it their all, showing off their talent and determination. After some intense rounds, it all came down to two finalists: Jake J from Year 8 and Declan W from Year 11. Both players were incredible, and the final game was incredibly tense. In the end, after an exciting showdown, Jake came out on top to be crowned the TIFS Darts Champion for 2024!

We caught up with Jake to hear about his victory and what Darts means to him:

Interviewer: When did your interest in Darts start?
Jake: Probably when I first started watching it with my Grandad at home. He’s been a big fan for ages, and I thought it looked really cool.

Interviewer: How have you been finding the Darts enrichment?
Jake: It’s amazing! I’ve always enjoyed playing, and being part of the enrichment group has made it even more fun. I’ve definitely learned a lot and got better!

Interviewer: Which Darts player inspires you the most?
Jake: I really look up to Luke Littler. I like his style of play, and funnily enough, we’ve got really similar throwing techniques!

Interviewer: How did it feel to win this competition?
Jake: It felt amazing! Honestly, I think it’s one of the best things that’s ever happened to me. I’m really proud of how I played, and winning the tournament felt like a massive achievement!

Jake’s performance was impressive, but let’s not forget about Declan, who played an skillfull game too! We wanted to hear how he felt about the tournament and getting so far:

Interviewer: Describe how it was playing in this gripping tournament?
Declan: I actually really enjoyed it! I’ve loved playing Darts for ages, and last year I played in the tournament too. I had such a great time that I decided to choose it as one of my enrichment options again this year. It’s always exciting and fun!

Interviewer: How did it feel to get so far in the game and come second?
Declan: I’m really proud of myself! Last year, I didn’t do so well in the finals, but this year I made it all the way to the final two, which feels awesome. Jake played brilliantly, and it was such a close match. Congratulations to him—he’s a really good player!

It was an amazing tournament all round, and both Jake and Declan showed fantastic sportsmanship and skill. Huge congratulations to everyone who took part. We can’t wait to see what next year’s tournament brings!
