Do you prefer summer or winter? That’s the question we have been asking pupils all around the school. The majority of pupils we spoke to said they prefer summer, but some still enjoy the cosy feeling of winter. Here is what a few pupils had to say.

Flora in Year 7 said that her favourite season is summer because it’s hot and you get to go to the beach. She doesn’t like winter because it can be very cold. In the summer she enjoys going to Osborne Beach. She wasn’t quite sure what her favourite summer snack is, but she definitely prefers the warmer weather.

Poppy in Year 8 said she likes both summer and winter. She likes summer because you can sunbathe and go on holidays. In winter she enjoys the snow and drinking hot chocolate. However, she said winter can sometimes be too cold and stop you from doing activities, while summer can sometimes get too hot. She also told us that Christmas trees should go up at the end of November, with decorations added around the 1st of December. Her favourite beaches are Sandown, because of the cafés, and Compton because it has good surfing opportunities. In winter she enjoys hot chocolate, and in summer she loves ice cream.

Lyndon in Year 8 said that winter is his favourite season. He likes the cold, cosy feeling that winter brings and doesn’t enjoy it when summer gets too hot. He thinks Christmas decorations should go up on the 29th of November, the day after his sister’s birthday. His favourite winter snack is chocolate.

A girl in Year 9 told us that summer is her favourite season because she loves going to the beach when it’s warm. She dislikes winter because it is too cold. Her favourite beach is Sandown, and her favourite summer snack is Oreo ice cream.

Another girl in Year 9 also prefers summer because you can go outside more without getting cold. She doesn’t like winter because it gets darker earlier and feels colder. Her favourite beach is Ventnor Beach, and she also enjoys Oreo ice cream in the summer.

Skyler in Year 9 said she loves both seasons. She likes summer because the days are longer and you can get a tan. In winter she enjoys the Christmassy atmosphere. However, she doesn’t like how dark winter can get, and she says summer heatwaves can sometimes be a bit too much. Her favourite summer beach is Ventnor Beach. She loves Oreo ice cream in summer and a cosy roast dinner in winter.

Overall, most pupils said they prefer summer, mainly because of the warm weather, beaches, and ice cream. However, winter still has its fans thanks to the cosy vibes, Christmas decorations, and hot chocolate.

So the question is… what do you prefer – summer or winter?
