At TIFS, a group of pupils are working on an exciting project – building their very own robot. The project is being led by Mr Teague, and the students involved are putting lots of time and effort into designing and creating it. Everyone around the school is very curious to see what the finished robot will look like and how it will work.

The robot has a clear goal. We asked Michael in Year 7, “What is the main goal for this robot?”
He explained, “It is basically designed to fire small balls at a target.” This means the robot needs to be carefully built and programmed so it can aim and launch the balls accurately.

Next, we spoke to Ted about the process of building the robot. We asked him if it was difficult to make. He replied, “Very difficult – it’s very complicated!” Building a robot involves lots of different parts and careful planning, so it is definitely a challenge. However, Ted also told us that even though it is tricky, it is still very enjoyable. When we asked if he liked working on the project, he said, “Definitely, yeah. It’s very fun!”

We also interviewed Luke in Year 11, who is helping the team with the project. We asked him what problems they had faced while building the robot. Luke explained, “We have come across different smaller problems, like sometimes the instructions weren’t very clear.” This shows that even when projects get difficult, the team works together to find solutions and keep moving forward.

We were also curious about how Luke got involved in the project in the first place. When we asked him why he decided to help, he told us, “Well, I was actually personally invited to help with this by Mr Teague and it sounded really fun.” Having older pupils involved can be really helpful, as they often have more experience and can support the younger pupils.

Overall, the robot project sounds like a really exciting opportunity for the pupils involved. It gives them the chance to learn new skills, solve problems, and work together as a team. Everyone at TIFS is looking forward to seeing the robot in action once it is finished!
