Exam season has now come to an end at TIFS. Year 11 have completed their GCSEs, Years 7, 8 and 9 have finished their end-of-year exams, and Year 10 have completed their mock exams. Before the exams, we went around the school to find out how pupils were feeling and how they were preparing. Now that they’re all over, we can look back and reflect on how everyone approached them.

Harvey W in Year 7 told us that he hadn’t done too much revision before the exams, but his favourite revision methods were mind maps and revision clocks to help organise everything he had learnt. Other Year 7 pupils shared similar ideas, although some said they had revised more. It was great to see so many pupils preparing in different ways, as these exams are an important chance to show everything they’ve learnt throughout the year.

We also spoke to Bailey in Year 10, who admitted he was nervous before his mock exams but was looking forward to getting them finished. His favourite revision methods were creating mind maps and watching revision videos, which he said were “very helpful”. Looking back now that the mocks are over, Bailey said he was pleased to have completed them and wished the Year 11s well as they move on to the next stage of their education.

Finally, we spoke to Bella and Emily in Year 7 before their exams. Bella said she was excited to try and get good grades, although she was a little nervous. Emily admitted she wasn’t looking forward to the exams and worried she might not do as well as she hoped, however these exams are just a part of school life and no matter what grades she gets as long as she’s tried her best then thats all the school can ask! The girls said they had done a little revision in school and that mind maps were their favourite way to revise.

Once the exams were over, it was time for the Year 11s to celebrate the end of an important chapter. On their final day, they enjoyed a friendly game of rounders after completing one last lap of the school. As they walked around the site, pupils and staff lined the route, cheering and applauding them as they said goodbye to TIFS. Afterwards, they headed over to Rew, where they spent the afternoon celebrating together with their friends and teachers. An ice cream van, burgers and plenty of laughter made it a memorable way to mark the end of five years at the school.

Looking back, it’s clear that everyone prepared in different ways. Some pupils felt confident, while others were understandably nervous, but they all gave the exams their best effort. Exams are an important way of showing what you’ve learnt over the year and can help highlight both your strengths and the areas you can continue to improve. Congratulations to everyone for working hard throughout exam season, and a special well done to Year 11 as they finish their time at TIFS. We wish them every success in whatever they choose to do next.
