On the 6th of March, the Year 10 boys’ and girls’ hockey squads took to the pitch for some intense matches. Both teams put up a strong fight, and the games were competitive and close.
I caught up with a few players from both teams to hear their thoughts on the games. Here’s what they had to say:
Interview with Mia W (Girls’ Team)
I asked Mia where they played and what the conditions were like.
“We played at Bede’s School in Eastbourne,” she said. “It was quite cold and windy.”
Next, I asked her about the result of the game and how she felt she performed.
“We won 2-1,” Mia proudly shared. “I scored a great goal, and I feel like I was the player of the game.”
When asked what she’d like to improve on, Mia said,
“I’d like to work on my goal-scoring even more.”
Interview with Finley B (Boys’ Team)
Finley described the conditions and the result of their game.
“It was a really hot and sunny day, which made for a great game,” he said. “It was very close, but sadly, we lost 2-1.”
When asked what the team could improve on, Finley suggested,
“I think we should really focus on improving our team structure and gameplay.”
Finally, I asked who he thought stood out most in the match.
“I’d say Nate was man of the match — he made some cracking saves.”
Interview with Seb F (Boys’ Team)
Seb also shared his thoughts on the game’s conditions and outcome.
“It was really sunny and really hot,” he said. “Unfortunately, we lost 2-1.”
When asked about areas for improvement, Seb said,
“I think we need to focus more on our desire for possession of the ball.”
Seb also praised his teammate, saying,
“Our man of the match was definitely Nate — he was a great goalkeeper for us.”
Lastly, I asked Seb what his highlight of the game was.
“The best moment was when we scored our first goal from a short corner. That was such an exciting moment for the team!”
Both teams showed great effort and determination — well done to everyone who played!
